Breckenridge Brewery Part II

First of all thanks to James for posting the comment in the original BB post!  Per his suggestion I stopped by Ye Old Spirit Shoppe on 7th street and they do carry Breckenridge Brewery products.  Unfortunately they were out of the Vanilla Porter, which the clerk said is by far their most popular variety.  I was kind of crushed to find I have such populist tastes.  I consoled myself with a six pack of their Oatmeal Stout.  I’ll let you know.

Their Oatmeal Stout is okay. Not nearly as good as, say, Samuel Smith’s. But honestly, I think we are spoiled here in Frederick to be able to grab a growler to go of very decent Oatmeal Stout from Brewer’s Alley. Another great local choice used to be Wild Goose Oatmeal Stout, but sadly Flying Dog has killed off the brand without adding an Oatmeal Stout to their own lineup.

I agree. Had one Friday night and though it was OK. I’d call it solid. Not bad but there are better ones out there. Have you tried their Summer Ale?

Haven’t tried their summer brew. Our current favorite in that category is Troegs Sunshine Pils. As far as Breckenridge Brewery goes, the Agave Wheat is decent. Their IPA and amber ale are nothing to get excited about. Besides the Troegs (and what we have left of their Nugget Nectar), we’ve lately been enjoying Sierra Nevada Kellerweis. Sierra Nevada Summerfest is good too, but the Sunshine Pils I think is better.

Thank you for the recommendations. I’m heading out of town this weekend and was planning on bringing a few six packs of summer brews. I think I’ll get the Troegs, Breckenridge, Landshark ( brother-in-laws favorite) and maybe the Sierra Nevada.
