Family Get Together

If you will allow me a little self indulgence I’d like to tell you about last weekend.  We had a family (the Italian-descended side) get together in New Jersey.  Before the party the wine geeks rendezvoued at the Wine Library and bought some for their cellars and some for the party.  At the party there was some terrific wine.  Here is a list of the wines I recall tasting:

N.V. Josep Maria Raventós i Blanc Cava L’Hereu Brut (Spain, Catalunya, Cava) – decent but the Collabrigio was better and less expensive

N.V. Collalbrigo (Italy, Veneto)

1999 Santa Cruz Mountain Vineyards Pinot Noir Estate Bottled Jarvis Vineyard (USA, California, San Francisco Bay, Santa Cruz Mountains)

2004 Finca Sandoval Manchuela (Spain, Castilla-La Mancha, Manchuela)

1994 Burgess Cabernet Sauvignon Vintage Selection Library Release (USA, California, Napa Valley)  – dead.  The wine was way past its prime.

2007 Nederburg Lyric (South Africa, Western Cape)

2006 Finca Luzón Jumilla (Spain, Murcia, Jumilla)  – quite good and a decent value.

2006 Ayoub Pinot Noir (USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Dundee Hills)

2004 Audelssa Estate Winery Cabernet Sauvignon Mountain Terraces (USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Valley)

2006 Varner Chardonnay Spring Ridge Vineyard Home Block (USA, California, San Francisco Bay, Santa Cruz Mountains)

2007 Jules Côtes de Provence Rosé (France, Provence, Côtes de Provence)

The ones in bold are the ones that I really liked.  I’ve already talked about the prosecco.   Also had some Sailor Jerry Spiced rum.  Much better than Captain Morgan.  Anyone know where I can get this?
